Schedule of Events
All Saints Sunday
November 6 is we will remember those members that have received their eternal reward this year. There will be time during the service where you can remember others in your lives that you have lost this year.
On Sunday, November 20 we will celebrate Thanksgiving during our 10:30 am worship service. We ask you to bring non-perishable food items to complete our cornucopia on the altar and after the service the food will be taken to Rising Hope. Rising Hope is a United Methodist congregation that was established with the mission of bringing the "power of Christ" and the "support of the church" to the community living in poverty south of Alexandria, along the Route 1 corridor.
Hanging of the Greens
On Saturday, November 26 at 10:00 AM you are invited to help decorate and prepare the church for Advent. If you have questions, please contact Brian Stevenson at firstname.lastname@example.org. The following day on Sunday, November 27 , we will celebrate the Hanging of the Greens during our 10:30 AM service and learn why we decorate and why we use specific items.
Christmas Concert & Roast Beef Dinner
On Sunday, December 4 we are co-sponsoring a Christmas Concert in conjunction with Music Ministries as the preamble to our traditional Roast Beef Dinner. The Concert by several musicians will be from 4:00-5:15 p.m. and will conclude with our traditional time of everyone singing carols along with instrumentalists that wish to participate.
The Roast Beef Dinner prepared by Bob Coffin will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and I'm sure it will conclude with the ever popular "The Twelve Days of Christmas". Each family is asked to bring a covered dish and also make a donation to cover the cost of the roast beef.
Our annual "Peaceable Christmas" service will be on Sunday, December 11 as part of our 10:30 AM service. We believe that everyone will benefit from the peaceful and prayerful prospective of this service during this busy time of year.
Our Music Ministries will offer their Christmas Cantata on December 18 during the 10:30 AM service and you are in for a treat! This year's cantata is a compilation of many different pieces of music covering many different styles and genres and there will definitely be something for everyone! Invite your friends to share this event with you!
Christmas Eve Services
We will have two Christmas Eve Services on December 24. The first will be at 4:30 PM and will be family oriented with a "pick-up pageant" which requires no rehearsals so it allows all the children in attendance to participate if they choose. Our second service will be at 7:30 PM and will be a traditional service with candlelight and Communion.
Christmas Day Breakfast and Worship Service
We're not done yet! On Christmas Day, there will be NO Sunday School but we will have a breakfast at 9:30 AM and encourage everyone to bring a breakfast casserole or other breakfast item to share with their church family. Juice and coffee will be provided. The dress code for the day is casual. Following breakfast we will celebrate the birth of Christ during our 10:30 AM worship service.
